My name is
I'm from Sydney, Australia.
I build websites
and web applications.
...reactive user interfaces, accessibility, just a bit of devops, and am always interested in learning more.
Over the years I've worked on corporate sites, blogs, community websites, corporate intranets, internal systems, open source projects, utility libraries, and much more.
a few presentations,
but I feel like I could always
do with some practice.
In my spare time, I do IT for a large pop culture convention that runs every year in Sydney.
It's hard work, but people seem to have a great time, and I learn a lot of new things in the process.
When I'm not working, you can probably find me going to concerts, playing some games, tinkering with things...
Or maybe I'll just be out on a walk.
I thought for a while about
why I wanted my site to look
a bit like a stack of cards.
When I was little I played a lot
with HyperCard on the family Mac,
trying to build video games.
It was difficulty considering
it could only animate icon-sized
regions at a time.
I figured that if it were possible
to build Mario Bros. out of sprites,
you could build Monkey Island
out of icons if you
really felt like it!
I think I was ten or so,
and frustration got the best of me.
When I was in high school, I'd play
blackjack with friends during P.E.
No stakes, just cards and idle chat.
I'm not very good at blackjack.
When I got into the web,
the things I had learnt playing
with HyperCard fell into place.
It might be understating it
to say that it mattered.
I'd like to play cards
with you sometime. What's your favourite game?
Also, if you're after someone
who can help make your website interesting and useful,
or make your applications better,
let me know.
